Just a thank you for a clean, well run campground. It is the cleanest I have seen. Also, power was excellent. We will be trying to get our extended family together for vacation, and we will try to come back.
We loved your campground. We stayed for three days but we will back for a longer stay . It is so relaxing and enjoyable. We are spreading the word about mtn. lake campground.
campgrounds, mountain lake is my favorite campground in the world — and i have camped all over the world
they have a pool and a sandy beach. you can paddle, canoe, or kayak on the pond. there is a nice playground in the middle and the sink outside the bathroom is a social center. the kids will love the life size checkers and chess as well as the nice shuffleboard game and arcade. i like to wander down the nature trail filling my belly with fresh berries.
i should also mention that the location is great. we love six gun city and santa’s village — just a half hour away. story land and clark’s trading post are just an hour away. weeks hunting lodge is right down the road and don’t forget to drive through jefferson. if it rains, go see a movie — the theater is a treasure.
We have been camping at Mountain Lake since the Cummings family took it over. We can say without a doubt it is the best campground around-what make it the best? Being able to go to a family campground where you feel you are guests in their (Bob and Maria) home, this campground is impecable in beauty, cleanliness, and customer satisfaction. We highly recommend it to all of our camping friend! Thank you Bob and Maria!
Our family fell in love with the campground years ago when our kids were small and we set the tent up on different sites … all good. We’ve continued to return every year with our young adults, family and friends because it is just the cleanest, most well run campground that we’ve ever had the good fortune to visit. The owners, Maria and Bob along with the ‘other’ Maria are such good hosts. This campground is the ‘total’ package. You get clean facilities, family focused activities, a beautiful lake, clean pool, really nice recreation room and we rent cabins now, which are so cozy. The local shops in town are interesting; we always find something to bring home. The Rialto Theatre IS a treasure. The new owners turned it into a shiny jewel. If you’re looking for a fun time, look no further!
I make sure I visit the website a few times through the winter just to daydream about our next visit. We’ve been going every year since we discovered the campground a few years ago. In fact, before we leave we always book for the following year to ensure our site.
The owners sure do go the extra mile to maintain a clean and friendly campground. Already looking forward to our week coming up this summer.
We LOVE camping, Trish from Ireland, and I, a Vermont-bred Boy Scout, and we often camp at Lake Geoge, NY, but Trish LOVES New Hampshire, and we stumbled upon this Campground on line, and, althought we havent’ camped out here (this Memorial Day Weekend will be our first visit!) we can already tell, THIS IS THE PLACE TO CAMP!!!! Just look at the pix and the campers’ comments!! And the Cummings Guarantee good weather this Memorial Day Weekend ( ), and we can already tell, we’ll enjoy ourselves this weekend, and will be back again and again. We appreciate the Cummings quality of services reported, and their commitment to a GREAT camping experience, and we already feel we’ve found our extended camping family, here in Lancaster. Look forwrad to meeting you all, and hope you will humble us at horsehoes!!!! P.S. Your Daughter deserves a raise; Boy, did she sell on on this Campground, and in such a sincere way. Thank you! Peter, Trish, and Aleana
Couldn’t agree more with the comments above. By far our favorite campground. It’s the perfect family get-a-way. From the moment you check in to the moment you leave, you feel as if your familiy is the Cumming’s family number one priority. I have yet to find a campground this clean and the service provided by the staff is second to none. This will be our third trip to the Mountain Lake this year and can’t wait. Thanks to Bob and Maria for providing us with a place like this to spend some quality time with the kids.
OK, so here is our Post-Stay Report: Oh YES, this is a GREAT campground for families; we just loved our site and met new friends, and the Cummings are the ultimate hosts! At night, we could hear the Loon calling his territory over the Lake, and the campground was just superior. We watchedd family depart in various water craft, and fishing and the whole bit. The bathrooms/showers were just SUPERIOR AND SPOTLESS! Don’t know why we are writing this report, because we want this campground all to ourselves!!!! Anyhow, just can’t wait til we return, and thank you for a GREAT camping experience! Just the ultimate family camping experience!
I can NOT wait to arrive in a little over a week. This will be my family’s first experience at Mountain Lake but the pictures sold me. I was just going through the website today to get myself really excited about coming up and in reading these posts, feel I made a great decision to camp here. I am SOOOOO excited. Hurry up July 11th. I need a vacation!!
After being steered away from an anything but friendly campground in Franconia, NH (judged for being young adults). Myself and three others stumbled apon Mountain Lake Campground. After a rough start, the four of us couldn’t have been any more pleased with the way our trip turned out. The campground was beautiful! Extremly well maintained. Beautiful camp sites and cabins, gorgous facilities, and a very nice lake with a beach. Definatly a campground for all ages, the pool, giant chess game and playgrounds looked like a lot of fun for kids or overgrown kids like us. Great place to go with family or friends. The Staff was more than welcoming, friendly and helpful. Oh and it was very fairly priced. I can’t wait to spend some more time at Moutain Lake Campgound.
Well another fantastic week came to an end at Mountain Lake and as usual we were sad to have to leave. Looking forward to next year already. It was nice to see the Cummings family and see all the improvements they’ve made since last year. Bigger beach area, new cabin and some new awesome looking sites. The kids were glad to see “Ol’ Rusty” still kicking around. “Ol’ Rusty” is the name they’ve given the humongous turtle that lurks under the fishing dock. They figure he’s so big that he must have been there so long he’s gotten rusty. It was also nice to see “Bucky”, another nickname the kids have given the beaver who makes his nightly voyage across the lake from his home on the other side. Hard to believe we have to wait another year for Candy Bar Bingo and Make Your Own Sundaes. Thanks for another great vacation and for ordering up some nice weather for us.
Yay! So glad all the positive comments swayed us to this campground. It was the best campground we’ve been to yet. From the moment we drove in we felt welcome. The store was full of treasures my kids just had to look at every day and the hosts are wonderful, friendly people who made us feel so welcome. This is the cleaniest campground we’ve ever been too. We can’t stop raving about it to everyone we know. The bathrooms are spotless and the camping sites are so clean and secluded. Every single person we met there was super friendly and our kids made tons of friends in the first hour. The views from the campground were gorgeous and ditto for the lake. We loved paddle boating across and seeing turtles and fish. The pool was so warm and inviting we had a hard time staying out of it. And Santa’s Village was only about 10 mins away which was so convienient. We cannot wait to go back again next summer it was great! Thank you so much for the wonderful family memories!
After arriving in NH from PA, we checked into a campground in the Twin Mountains and quickly realized that we could not stay there for many reasons. We checked out several other area campgrounds and were not satisfied. Last on our list was Mountain Lake. As soon as we pulled in we loved it. It was just what we were looking for. The sites are set up perfectly (our favorite was 44), the lake was beautiful, pool was very warm, nice arcade, great shuffleboard, checkers, & chess, and delicious muffins & coffee. We loved the woodsy setting. The folks that run this campground could not be more friendly and helpful. We just got home this morning and we miss it already. You should go!!
My family and I absolutely love Mountain Lake Campground! Its one of the few family campground that has so much to do for our two teenagers. They love the arcade, the paddle boats, the fishing (that was Dylan’s favorite),and so much more. We stay near the lake with such a beautiful and peaceful view as well as wildlife. On a given day you can hear loons calling and see herons fishing on the lakeside.
The Cummings family has been very nice to us as well and welcoming. We plan to come back for years to come!
My family and I have been camping at Mtn Lake for about 15 years! We knew the owners that were there before the Cummings family took over, but now we’re getting to know them. There have been changes in the campground but it’s to be expected over time. I love camping and Mtn Lake has been the best place so far! We used to go in the Summer but decided to avoid the rain and now we go in the Fall. It’s really beautiful and the Cummings do a great job of keeping the place clean and neat. I’m looking forward to going back yet again this year!
Columbus Day weekend is our last planned camping weekend every year.
This is our first stay at Mountain Lake and we love it. It is the best kept campground we have seen (and we have been camping for over 20 years), very clean and beautiful surroundings.
We are looking forward to coming back in the summer. We love to kayak and are looking forward to getting the boats out. This is truly the best kept secret in the North Country!
